 :]v[: Code of Ethical Game-Play :]v[:
The Harmattan Vanguard Clan is founded on the notion of fair-play, achieving success in-game through the use of teamwork, tactics, and skill, opposing all forms of cheating, and adhering to a stricter than most Code of Conduct.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit may EVER employ Hacks of any kind. Having a Hack installed on one's computer will result in immediate expulsion from the Clan, and the incident will be reported to Punksbusted, PBBans, Evenbalance (and in the case of BF game... EA), or any other company/entity that tracks/bans cheaters. Being placed on the Punkbuster Master Ban list may be considered proof enough that a Hack occurred.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit may EVER engage in behavior meant to circumvent any in-game ranking, badge, award, experience, or item/skill unlock system (such as Stat Padding or utilizing any method that obtains those artificially or pre-maturely (without earning them legitimately)). This is not limited to just the items listed, but to all forms of cheating. Basically, any modification of any portion of the game-files in any way that was not intended by the game-maker, is considered cheating.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit is to tolerate another Member's intentional breaking of the Code of Conduct, and will both warn the offending Member or Recruit (give them an opportunity to correct the behavior) and report the behavior, promptly, to Clan Admin.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit may EVER tolerate a team or squad-mate breaking the host server's rules or cheating (using an Exploit, Stat Padding, attacking an Uncap if not allowed on that server, using a grenade on a knife/pistol server, etc.) they are to be warned (give them an opportunity to correct the behavior). If they continue, report the offender to Server Admin in-game (if available), and remove them from any squad that the Member leads (such as in BF games that use squads). If in a squad in which someone is engaging in the offending behavior, the Member is to leave the squad if the squad leader does not remove or stop the offender.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit is to EVER accuse another gamer of Hacking or otherwise cheating unless the Member can provide evidence (witnesses, screen shots, demos, etc.). There are a lot of good players, and unless there is evidence to the contrary, Members are to assume that their death was caused by skill not hacks. Starting a kick vote against a gamer in-game is always an option (if enabled on that server). However, once reported in-game, do not continue to argue the issue. We are not there to whine.
All Harmattan Vanguard Members and Recruits are to obey all server rules on any game server they play, and to show proper respect when in the game, forum, or website of another Clan. We must show them the same respect that we expect them to show us on our sites.
Intentional Teamkilling is STRICTLY prohibited. No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit is to EVER Teamkill (not even in response to a Teamkill). This also includes the warm-up time before a match or scrim. If you want to shoot at someone, make sure they are on the other team.
If a Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit accidentally breaks a server rule or accidentally inflicts a teamkill, they must offer a sincere and immediate apology.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit is to make use of in-game communications (such as Text or Voip) that is visible/audible to non-Members to intentionally criticize, degrade, insult, or harass a fellow Member or Recruit.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit is allowed to make offensive references to an individual's race, religion, ethnicity, gender, gender preference, or physical/mental disability in chat, voice, or text (this includes sayings such as thats gay and all racial slurs); even if just in jest.
All Harmattan Vanguard Members and Recruits are to remember that while playing on public servers, they are representing the Harmattan Vanguard Clan and are to play with maturity. Do not argue unnecessarily with other players or admin, do not engage in behaviors meant to antagonize other players (such as tea-bagging a stranger).
Although Banter between members is encouraged, care must be taken to not offend. If any Member states that they have been offended, an apology must be offered, and the behavior terminated.
No Harmattan Vanguard Member or Recruit may divulge confidential information of another Member (real name, addresses, email addresses), strategies, tactics, passwords, etc. to non-Members. Certain details of another Member may be released if permission to do so is reasonably expected. If in doubt, do not give it out. Extreme care must be taken to protect the identities of any Members below the age of consent (usually 18).
Whenever possible, Harmattan Vanguard Members and Recruits are to work as a team within squads, and must obey reasonable requests from Commanders and Squad Leaders (in the case of BF games). When playing specialized kits, Members are expected to respond in a timely fashion to all reasonable requests for assistance (Engineers are expected to repair tanks, Medics to heal wounded, Engineers to, place, and remove demolitions, etc.).
Harmattan Vanguard Members and Recruits are expected to wear their tags whenever in-game, in X-fire, and in Ventrilo.
** No distinction is made in this Code of Conduct between Member and Recruit; both are expected to follow all items in this Code. Although some violations may be put up to a Clan vote to decide, this in no way reduces the ability of the Founder to make a unilateral decision on any matter. **
